I didn’t liked the last part of the movie at all, the man had to stay alive and girl should die.
I was discussing the movie with my husband in the car while returning from the movie hall at 12 o’clock in the night. As the universe says girls love to talk and they can discuss anything anytime whether it is necessary or unnecessary. I was doing the same and giving my needless opinion about the movie. And on the other hand, my poor husband was trying to give me full attenuation and replying with OK, YES, and Hmmm…
Near our residence there is a traffic signal, quite big and filled with traffic almost all day and night, we were stuck in the traffic there and apart from movie discussion I was raging on the traffic. Suddenly MY HUSBAND said…. Look at this man…
From this place, my story begins…
Main character of this story is a man on the street selling water bottles. Man in 70th age of his life, small heighted, dark brown skin, wrinkles and rashes all over the body, gaze eyes, minimal teeth’s, sloping shoulder, least muscles in the body, he was wearing a loose fitting shirt and paint with torn footwear. It seems like a skeleton with a thin layer of skin.
He was standing alone taking deep breath, adjusting his heavy bag, wiping his sweat and waiting for the signal to turn red so he can rush to the cars.
He was carrying a big and heavy bag with full of water bottles, and 4 bottles he was holding in his hand. Then signal turned red, with his all energy he started walking, running to the every possible car he can reach to sell his bottles.
My Husband said to me…very often I see this man here and whenever I get a chance I buy a bottle and give him 3 times more money. Then he told to me …. Can you imagine his situation, why he is selling only water bottles this late when half of the city population either rich or poor slept already and this man choose to earn not to beg? We cannot even imagine his pain or his suffering or anything about him what is he feeling now and what situation is he going through…. he could be hungry, homeless, hurt, abandoned by his family, sick, lost, angry or anything.
Just look around many young men and women in their cars, some of them are drunk, some are with their family, some are with their loved ones, most of them are enjoying, some of them could be tired and are resting but most of them are already in their peace state and at the same time we have this man who actually deserve rest, peace, care, respect, love but he is on this road to earn something even at midnight when traffic is minimal then definitely he must be working whole day when actually people can buy his bottles and now its midnight already that means he is not getting rest at all.
Signal turned green and our car reached near to that old man and signal goes off again.
Man approached towards us and asked us to purchase a bottle and we bought one by giving him more money compared to the actual price of the bottle, and he replied-THANKYOU
I told my Husband- this man can say more than thank you we gave him lot of money, then he said- dear you are still thinking of reward for a pity help, just think about him that our little help can give him motivation to come here next day again to earn and not to beg. He chose to sell means he is putting all of his efforts to earn instead beg. He is not any other beggar who will start giving you blessings because you helped him once. He is earning this money and he has his right on it. That’s different we choose to pay him more even if we know it won’t affect him much and still he has to work hard to earn.
He again started approaching other cars, some people not even opened the window and few of them bought the bottle.
We moved forward from the signal, but we both were thinking about that man.
Now, this is interesting:-
My husband was feeling pity for him and carrying a little emotion about him without knowing him. In the back of his mind, he was thinking maybe one day this man will start to recognize him.
Old man was doing his job without knowing anyone in this massive crowd however there are some people who feels for him who think that this man exists and he is worthy.
And I, on the other hand, the third person between two of them was thinking what kind of relationship is this? Its a strange thing, A man who is surviving good enough, doing good in his life, having all fun and he still wants a little attenuation, smile, and especially the happiness in his eyes which only comes after you see someone after long and that too from a man who is surviving only to live.
At some point, you can say its humanity but I was not conviced with this.
Because after few minutes we both forgets everything about that man and went back to our normal routine. We did not even care if that man is alive or not. Those thoughts came to our mind only for an instant while we were waiting at the traffic light. We cannot name it kindness or humanity. So what was it?
I think my husband and from now I also have a bond with this traffic signal which reminds us about the old man and whenever our car passes through that signal our eyes are always searching for him. We wanted to seek his well being whether he is ok or not? Whether somebody accompanied him today? Is he still selling water bottles or got something else to sell in his pocket? How many people ignored him and how many bought something from him? Too Many questions arises by itself whenever we reach that signal. Every time we spot him or by seeing him gives us a satisfaction and a thought that maybe today he will recognize us and smile back at us.
I know friends if I can feel this thing so definitely at some point of time you could also be feeling this too or you must have already felt it but never relates to it. Please start feeling your relation.
