Riya was running all around the house and screaming… I want everything new, I want everything new, new bag, new lunchbox, new bottle, new shoes, new dress everything… MA please can i get those? Ok ok, MA said. When your papa will come home then you go with him and buy all of these. But you will get only new dress and shoes all the other stuffs are still in good condition so you wont be getting them, now stop screaming and help me with this. Bring those utensils and keep it on kitchen’s platform and don’t break it. These are not ours Iam working here so be careful.
I shouldn’t have to bring Riya here, sara ghar sir pe utha kar rkha hain (she is creating a mess), if Madam will come and see her playing around like this she will definitely gets mad on me. Sunita was whispering by here self. God knows when will the school open, it seems like these 2 months of summer vacation is not going to end. And now Riya will be going to her new school which is already out of our budget. We are already struggling with our expenses and this little queen’s (Riya) expectations are touching sky.
I will go to new school… I will go to new school, Riya was jumping and singing around while bringing the utensils to the kitchen and suddenly a glass fell down and broke!
What did you break?! Sunita ran fast towards the kitchen, as soon as she saw the broken glass she gave a tight slap on Riya’s cheek. Sunita got really angry and screamed at her- I told you to be careful with those utensils, who will pay for this now? Madam is going to yell at me, Stupid girl you better go and sit quietly at the courtyard, and if I heard any single sound of yours it will be disaster for you. Now go!!
Riya got scared so she sat at the corner and started crying and trying hard to hide her tears.
After doing dishes Sunita started cleaning/moping the floor. 10 minutes later Rachna came home, Rachna along with her son Rahul was living there since last 5 years, however her husband was living out of town for his work and visit them very often whenever he gets time. As soon as Rachna entered the Kitchen she noticed the broken glass and asked Sunita- what is this Sunita? How this happened? Where is your mind now a days? Few days back also you broke one glass? These glasses came in set of 6 pieces but now you ruined it. Sunita folded her hand and apologize and said I bring Riya here today so that she can give me a hand but unfortunately this happened. Rachna replied- its ok. Where is she? Bring her here. Then she asked Sunita- By the way what’s your plan for Riya’s admission? I am telling you since long time don’t waste your money on her education, save it for her dowry when she will get married. But you are spending all your money for her education and sending her in a private school. Eventhough she will complete her school education but you will never be able to send her to college or to any big university for higher studies, they need lots and lots of money. So you better teach her sewing and other household things, atleast it will help her after her marriage. Sunita replied- yes Madam you are right but may be god has written her fate in different manner, we are just full filling our obligations as parents. I dont even remember her new school name even. So better you send Riya to a government school their fees is also low and she will get her mid day meals there as well Sunita said. In the middle of discussion Riya came in and said hello to Rachna.
Rachna told Riya- you broke my glass it’s a very bad thing, this is your last mistake next time I will punish you… don’t you know me I am very bad. Rachna said this in constructive manner to scare her and laughed after that.
So which class are you going next? Riya told class- 5th. Ok, and what is the name of your new school? Riya said Mahatma Gandhi English Medium School. Rachna got shocked and turn her face to Sunita’s and asked with curiosity – what is she talking about? How can you afford that school? And how school can agree to take Riya? We were trying to get admission for Rahul there but we can’t afford it so we put him to another school. How you managed it? Is she telling correct name of school?
Sunita replied- Madam Riya has passed the entrance exam and got admission there. That’s it. We are small people and we can’t think of paying donation or anything for her. Mohan my husband is workig as a driver there in school bus, So Mr. Sinha a very respected teacher there told him about and breifed about entrance exam for admission that if Riya will pass the exam she can avail the scholarship as well for her studies. Then Mohan insisted that Riya should appear on the exam, doesn’t matter if she pass or fail. Entrance fees was discounted for Riya as he was working there. Finally we went ahead and our Riya got selected Madam. We did nothing just encouraged her to give the exam. It was Riya’s effort who cracked the exam.
When Rachna heard this she got really amazed and speech less. She was staring at Riya and was trying to make out what did she has which Rahul doesn’t.
But we all know the secret it’s just “HARD WORK THAT MATTER NOT MONEY”.
Guys some time we also do mistake to understand people, when we face these kind of situation, we started to judge people by their occupations specially when it comes to maid, peon, sweeper, milkman any individual who are making their living just by doing the job which white collar personal will not do. I don’t know how and why, but it’s like we have already made out minds that their children will follow their parents path only and will not go anywhere above that without even knowing their strength and true potential.
So guys all I want to say please change your perspective and start respecting knowledge and hard work instead of the monetary luxury. If we can’t motivate at least let’s not try to snatch it from the deserving.
